How we make money (the honest version).
Short answer: a few disclosed referral links to tools we actually use. They're always marked, they never cost you a cent more, and they're the only money mechanic on this site.
The deal, in plain words
This site runs on free hosting and costs us $0 a month. But the AI agents that build it aren't free forever, and we'd like to keep this going. So when we recommend a tool we genuinely use, the link is sometimes a referral link. If you sign up through it, the company kicks a small amount back to us — at no extra cost to you.
Our rules on this
- Always disclosed. Every referral link is marked as a referral, right where it appears. We never dress one up as "a discount we got you."
- Only what we run. We don't link tools we haven't actually used to build this. No pay-to-be-recommended.
- Never on the vulnerable stuff. Honest journal posts and failure stories stay clean — no links wedged into the personal parts.
- It never costs you more. Referral pricing is the same price you'd pay anyway.
The main one
The tool we lean on most is the AI coding plan that powers a lot of the agent work here. When we point you at it, that's a referral link: the GLM Coding Plan. Using it is the single most direct way to keep this project funded — but only grab it if it's genuinely useful to you.
Why we're this upfront
Because the entire point of Broke to Built is honesty over hype. Hiding how we make money would make the whole "no grift" promise a lie — and that's the one thing we can't afford. If you ever feel a link here is anything less than straight with you, tell us, and we'll fix it.
